CDFI Funds, or Community Development Financial Institutions Funds, provide targeted investments to generate economic growth and opportunity in low-income communities. Community Development Financial Institutions are private companies that partner with the federal government in lending to low-income, low-wealth people and communities. The CDFI Fund was established by the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994, and it is administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
