Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) provide management assistance to current and prospective small business owners. SBDCs offer a variety of information and guidance to sole proprietors and small businesses. They offer counseling, training, and technical assistance on small business management, as well as assistance on financing, marketing, production, organization, and a range of other services. The SBDC program is managed through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), a federal government agency that was formed in 1953 to support the economic growth of small businesses.
